About Kisiah

Waters Kisiah Ann Waters is a 20-year-old junior at Peabody Conservatory, passionately pursuing her dream of becoming an accomplished pianist. Starting her piano studies at the age of 8 with Dene Billings, Kisiah's journey has been one of growth, determination, and self-discovery. Under the mentorship of Chad Bowles, she was accepted into Peabody Preparatory's Piano Academy, participated in Piano Week, attended masterclasses with Marion Hahn, and earned the Musicianship Achievement Award. With only a couple of years of professional lessons and training, Kisiah's acceptance into Peabody was the culmination of an intense and focused effort, demonstrating her remarkable talent and unwavering dedication to the art of piano performance.

Kisiah has performed in solo recitals and masterclasses, and she enjoys accompanying other amazing and inspirational musicians, showcasing her versatility and dedication to sharing her music with a diverse audience. She has also lent her talents to various events, including church services, weddings, funerals, birthdays, and fundraisers.

Deeply committed to making classical music more accessible to African American communities, Kisiah has taught in predominantly Black elementary and middle schools, aiming to inspire the next generation of Black classical pianists and foster a love for the genre. Outside of piano, Kisiah finds joy in painting, photography, spending time in nature, journaling, and reading. These activities fuel her creativity and enrich her life. Aspiring to be a source of peace and inspiration, she uses her music and her story to uplift others while continuously pushing the boundaries of her artistry. With a vision to cultivate positivity, Kisiah is dedicated to sharing her authentic self and inspiring those around her through the transformative power of classical music.
